The post-doctoral scholar will study how rapidly evolving RNA viruses (e.g., H5N1 avian influenza, coronavirus) transmit and evolve at the human-animal interface, using advanced Bayesian phylodynamic approaches and large-scale genomic data. This project is part of NIAID’s Centers for Excellence in Influenza Research and Response (CEIRR), a 20-year international research consortium. The project also involves additional longstanding government-academic partnerships spanning multiple Federal agencies and academic institutions around the world to study disease spillover between humans, wildlife, and livestock and identify successful intervention strategies to break transmission in real-world settings. Specific tasks and responsibilities include:
-
Phylodynamic analysis of virus genome data
-
Writing papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals
-
Presenting data at conferences and seminars
-
Leading projects involving international collaborators
-
Working collaboratively with other lab members
